Cable Monitoring

BiiSensing transforms your existing power cables into a continuous sensing network. Using Distributed Fibre Optic Sensing (DFOS), every metre of an aerial, underground or submarine cable becomes a measurement point — delivering real-time visibility into the health and performance of critical transmission and distribution assets.

How it works

A single optical fiber, already inside the cable or installed alongside it, acts as thousands of continuous sensors. Our DAS and DTS interrogators read the light backscattered along the fiber to measure vibration, strain and temperature with meter-level resolution over tens of kilometers, with no powered electronics in the field.

What we detect

Hotspots and dynamic thermal rating
Partial discharge and insulation degradation
Third-party interference and digging
Anchor-drag on submarine routes
Precise fault localization

Key Benefits

01

Real-Time Monitoring

Continuously track cable condition along the entire route.

02

Precise Fault Localization

Pinpoint faults to within meters for faster repair.

03

Enhanced Operational Performance

Optimize cable loading with dynamic thermal data.

04

Cost Efficiency

Extend asset life and cut inspection and outage costs.

Why it matters

Operators gain early warning of developing faults, optimize cable loading with confidence, and dispatch crews to the exact location of an event, raising utilization and extending asset life.
